Day 1 Location Ahmedabad

  • Journey commences at 12 pm
  • Post Lunch, An orientation to the program, introduction to the culture of Gujarat, its rich craft and textile history and its relation to the geography of Gujarat
  • Visit Adalej Step Well, a 15th century monument and talk about water architecture and its importance on silk and spice routes on India.
  • Spend the evening in the Sabarmati Ashram and discuss the life of Mahatma Gandhi, his principles and the independence movement of India
  • Visit Kalam Khush, a handmade paper centre that uses Khadi fabric wastage to produce paper and other items
  • Dinner
Day 2 Location Ahmedabad

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Calico Museum to understand the rich textile history of India. Take a curated walk through the museum’s diverse collection of textiles of West India and from Mughal period. The museum also houses a bronze art collection
  • After lunch, go for City walk and a tuk-tuk ride through old Ahmedabad, a UNESCO world heritage city. Ahmedabad is known for some of its unique Indo-Islamic buildings of the Medieval Period showing a unique synthesis of Hindu, Jain and Islamic artistic elements
  • Visit Huteesingh Jain Temple in evening, a remarkable monument of Jain religion constructed in the time of drought to help the people.

Day 3 Location Ahmedabad – Patan – Little Rann

  • Check out and depart for Little Rann
  • En route, visit Modhera, Patan and Sidhpur for the day. The 11th century Sun temple of Modhera is adorned with mythological human figurines, gods, dancers, etc.
  • Visit A UNESCO world heritage site, the Stepwell of Patan , a 11th century Solanki architecture monument with exquisite architecture and carvings unparalleled to any other wells.
  • Visit the world famous Patan Patola Weavers. The exquisitely intricate warp and weft work of Patola fabric are considered a paragon of artwork throughout the world.
  • Check in to the hotel, dinner and rest.
Day 4 Location Ahmedabad – Patan – Little Rann

  • Meet the Tangalia Weavers working on pit loom
  • Spend a relaxed afternoon. Late afternoon, go for a village safari in a camel cart to enjoy the village. Interact with nomadic Mir tribe who make beautiful bead jewellery
  • Meet women from semi nomadic Vagadia Rabari community to see their embroidery and talk about their lifestyle.
  • Dinner and traditional folk dance performance
Day 5 Location Little - Rann - Bhuj

  • Check in to the hotel and Lunch
  • Visit the Living and Learning Design Centre which highlights folk arts and crafts of communities of Kutch.

Day 6 Location Bhuj

  • Visit Ajrakhpur, home to Ajrakh a block printing textile technique
  • Ajrakh printing, uses natural dyes and is one of the oldest techniques of resist printing in India. It is one of the most complex and sophisticated method of printing.
  • Participate in a full day Ajrakh workshop with the artisans
  • Dinner
Day 7 Location Bhuj

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Khamir, a platform for the craft, heritage, cultural and ecology of the Kutch. It works to promote rich artisanal tradition of the region.
  • After lunch, visit the weavers of Bhujodi and Sumrasar to learn about traditions of Vankar community, their signature weaves and the process of weaving. Each weaver scarves and shawls.
  • Meet the women from the Rabari community known for their embroidery.
  • Dinner
Day 8 Location Bhuj

  • Visit Bhadli Village, home to the Bhandani artisans of Kutch. Bandhani is a highly skilled process involving dyeing a fabric which is tied tightly with a thread at several points, thus producing a variety of patterns
  • Participates in a full day Bhandani workshop with the artisans

Day 9 Location Bhuj

  • Visit Nirona Village and meet the Rogan Artisans. Rogan work is castor oil and vegetable colors mixed and heated in clay pot and then the paste is apllied on fabric. Meet the family in Nirona who have kept the Rogan art alive.
  • Meet the Copper bell and lacqure work artisans of Norona
  • After Lunch, visit Khabda and Ludhiya village of Kutch renowned for its skilled artisans.
  • Before sunset proceed to the picturesque white desert created by millennie of deposition of salt crystal over it. The vast salt flat land is a sight to behold.

Day 10 Location Bhuj - Sayla

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit Mr. Wazir, a famous textile collector to view his comprehensive embroidery and textile collection. He talks about history and origins of different embroideries from Indian community
  • Post Lunchchecj out and depart for Sayla
  • Arrive by evening and check in
  • Dinner and relax
Day 11 Location Sayla

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit 11th century Navlakha temple built during Chalukya time
  • The weavers of Sayla specialize in Single Ikat weaving. Visit the families working together on the resist dyeing process of the warp or weft fibers, which are then woven on hand looms.
  • After Lunch, Visit the Tangali Weavers working on their Pit looms to create a unique kinf of weaving in which the geometrical design is knotted and woven into the fabric
  • Visit the Darri (rug) makers of Sayla. They are the best example of sustainable recycling. Using discarded saree shreds, they make beaytiful rugs and bathmats for day to day use.
  • Dinner 
Day 12 Location Sayla - Ahmedabad

  • check out and depart to Ahmedabad
  • Visit the block makers in Ahmedabad
  • Lunch
