Day 01 : Airport / Sigiriya
Arrival and meet and greet by Adler Tours Safaris representative at the Airport. Proceed to Sigiriya. Visit the world heritage sites at Dambulla and Sigiriya rock fortress in the sky. Day at leisure. Overnight at hotel in Sigiriya.
Sigiriya is a large stone and ancient rock fortress and place ruin in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures. A popular tourist destination, Sigiriya is also renowned for its ancient paintings frescos which are reminiscent of the Ajanta Caves of India. It is one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. It is also declared by UNESCO at the 8th Wonder of the World.
Sigiriya may have been inhabited through prehistoric times. It was used as a rock-shelter mountain monastery from about the 5th century BC, with caves prepared and donated by devotees of the Buddhist Sangha. According to the chronicles as Mahavamsa the entire complex was built by King Kashyapa (AD 477 - 495), after the king's death, it was used as a Buddhist monastery until 14th century.
Day 02 : Sigiriya
After breakfast visit Dambulla Cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka, Situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There total og 153 Budhha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan Kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include two statues of Hindu gods, the god Vishnu and the god Ganesh. The murals cover an area of 2,100 square meters. Depictions on the walls of the caves. included the temptation by the demon Mara, and Buddha's forst sermon.
Day 03 : Sigiriya / Pinnawala / Kandy
After breakfast leave for Pinnawala visit the Elephant Orphanage, located on the banks of the Mahaoya. Most of the elephants in the Orphanage are raised to maturiity after having been found abandoned or injured in the country's jungles. It is interesting to visit at the feeding and bathing time.
Afternoon visit the Royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya, known for it's large number and variety of plants such as ornamental, decorative and also useful medicinal plants. There are more than 4000 species include indigenous and introduced plants. This garden is best known for it's collection of orchids the largest in Asia. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 04 : Kandy
After breakfast at leisure proceed further for rest of the Kandy city sightseeing. Visit will include the most sacred Temple, Tooth Relic of "Sri Dalada Maligawa" Thereafter proceed to visit the handicraft centre and the upper lake for a panoramic view of the garden city. Proceed to witness the spectacular performance of a Kandyan dance and fire limbo show. Return to hotel for overnight.
Day 05 : Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast today you will be transferred to Nuwara Eliya. En-route take in the scenic beauty of Sri Lanka's most popular Hill resort. Visit a Sri Lanka tea factory and experience yourself how the world famous Sri Lanka tea is made and also taste the fresh brew right from the tea garden. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18-hole golf Courses in South Asia. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 06 : Nuwara Eliya -Bentota
After breakfast you will be transferd to the beach where you may spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Bentota.
You may indulge yourself in various water activities. Whale and dolphin watching tours etc on an additional cost.
Day 07 : Bentota - Colombo
After breakfast today, you will be transferred to Galle, visit the turtle hatchery, Galle fort and the pleasant drive along the south beaches to Colombo. Upon arrival, you will begin your Colombo City Tour. The tour sites include : the Pettah Bazzar, a Hindu and Buddhist temple, the old Parliament, Colombo Museum and the Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall. Overnight in Colombo.
Day 08 : Depart Colombo
After breakfast today, you will be transferred to the airport in time to board your flight back home.
